Deelightful Beginnings Advertising Campaign
Task: Create marketing material for Dee Barragan’s small business, “Deelightful Beginnings: Wedding Officiant Services,” that helps her attract the right clientele and build brand awareness
Strategy: Present Deelightful Beginnings as a classy & elegant wedding officiant service that will stand by your side and guide you on your special day.
Concept #1: Timeless Love
Breakdown the overall purpose and highlight the image of the brand. Essentially, “This is who we are and what we can offer.” Includes, web/social ad + billboard.
Concept #2: Attention-grabbing/Humor (Billboard)
Pokes fun at getting ordained online and how there’s always that one friend who tries to involve themselves in anyway they can. This is also the same person who has zero filter—especially once the drinks start flowing. In this ad, the client wanted to show how her services set the tone for the ceremony and after-party. Essentially, she is the solution to this issue.
Concept #3: Emotional/Heartfelt
Client wanted imagery and copy that tells the story of her service, without actually having to say it—essentially, letting the story being told, sell itself.
The image of a happy couple along with common wedding phrases/wedding themed statements, tie in the classiness and timelessness Dee can offer. There are several versions of this ad that were made for the client, and they are shown in the slideshow below. Some are more trendy than others. The ad that was chosen by the client is the first one, “From this Day Forward.”
See below.
Apple Innovation Ad
Task: Create an ad for a company that resonates with their product & aligns with their mission and values.
Strategy: Show how Apple has changed the world and been consistent in driving change.
Ad Concept: Use the various models of the iPhone, Apple’s most popular innovation, to show just how much they have advanced society and technology since the very first model.
Sleek, simple fonts, colors, icons & CTA’s to truly embody the brand.
Smokey the Bear x Climate Change
Task: Create an a flyer for a register to vote rally that focuses on a social issue plaguing today’s world.
Strategy : Use Smokey the Bear, a popular figure used for fire warnings in California, as an advocate for climate change (a hot-button issue with yourg people) and reminder on why students need to vote.
Ad Concept: I drew inspiration from Rosie the Riveter and the World War I draft poster to create this ad. Hence the blue text bubble fitted to the top of the poster, and the image of Smokey the Bear pointing—just like the WWI draft image.
Equal Pay
Task: Create a poster for an issue that is currently affecting society.
Strategy : Highlight the financial differences between men and women and how they are not based on merit or talent.
Ad Concept: With an emphasis on sports, I chose to show the literal cent differences by making coins the faces of male and female players. The copy ties in the theme of how women are equally as talented and successful yet will still make less than a man.
Inspired by US women’s soccer and their fight for equal pay.
Packaging Design
Midnights: Soups by Taylor Swift
Task
Create a brand & label for Taylor Swift’s newest idea: a line of soups.
The Brand
Midnights. For when your snack cravings work the graveyard shift.
Strategy
Make soups flavors and copy that resonate/are inspired by song lyrics from her studio album, Midnights.
Concepts
Combined a mix of past and present song lyrics & titles, along with fashion choices (plaid—an ode to her album, Evermore and her iconic jacket), and the same ombre, Helvetica Neue font used on the Midnights album. This is consistent on every soup label—colors change depending on the vibe of the song or type of soup.
